"Art has been at the center of my life from my first memory of drawing as a toddler, to my daily life today. I am so grateful to have the ability to recreate some of the beauty of my world as paintings." –Martha Kellar

Born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Martha Robbins Kellar moved at age 5 to Evanston, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. At age six, she saw her first art exhibition, a show of Rubens and other Baroque painters work at the Art Institute of Chicago. Martha made her decision to become an artist then and there. After high school, she attended college as a fine arts major at Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky.

Martha has worked as a professional artist since 1979. For the first ten years of her career, Martha painted only in pastels. Following her first exhibit of work at the PSA annual national show in 1985, at which she won her first national painting award, Martha was accepted as a signature member of the Pastel Society of America. In 1989, she began painting in oils for the first time since being a college student. Recognizing her preference for oils, Martha now works mostly in that medium to create still lifes, figurative works, and landscape.

Now a resident of La Luz, New Mexico, Martha has exhibited her work throughout the Southwest, in Manhattan and in New York City. Her painting has been published in the book, Best of Oil Painting and Best of Floral Painting, from Rockport Publishers. Her work is widely collected and is found in both public and private collections.
