Oil Painting
Sharon Abshagen looks for that special light in Southwest Colorado. "My paintings are the language I use to communicate the natural beauty of the landscape through the use of light and atmosphere.”
With an emphasis in fiber art while attending college, she spent the majority of her time weaving large tapestries and designing sweaters. Opportunites arose however, to record memorable times white water rafting and camping, with watercolors. Sharon finds painting on location with friends so much more fun and exciting than spending hours in the studio designing. “I want to capture the mood of the moment when I am outside painting."
Sharon is a member of the American Academy of Women Artists, The Plein Aire Painters of the 4 Corners, and the Oil Painters of America. She has shown her work in numerous exhibits and juried shows in the southwest.
