I think it would be an understatement to say that the 6th annual Durango Wine Experience was anything short of a huge success. The town was a buzz with spring in the air and wine aficionados dressed up for the afternoon "Walk About" on May the 4th.
Sorrel Sky Gallery hosted four vendors - Foley Family Wines, Left Coast Wine Cellars, Heck Estates and Winebow Imports - that offered up many labels for the sampling. This three-day event started Thursday, May 3rd with seminars, a VIP reception, wine tastings and dinners at various locations around Durango.
Each day followed with similar fares and a Special Event of the day, ending with The Grand Tasting on Saturday, May 5th in a tented event at the First National Bank of Durango. Falling on the same day as the Kentucky Derby, there was a sea of hats, pretty sundress and sparkling DWE souvenir wine glasses under the billowing white tents.
Fifty vendors, twelve restaurants, silent auctions, and live music all came together to make up a successful local event that gave the United Way a check for $10,000 in 2011, also the beneficiary for the 2012 Durango Wine Experience. Cheers what a "Winederful" experience!
