It was this sculpture, “Moulding Our Future,” that transformed Denny Haskew's career as a successful artist.

Denny Haskew and his sculpture made national news in the late 1980s after it was placed in Thompson Park in downtown Loveland, CO.  The controversy erupted due to the sculpture depicting both mother and child nude and the appropriateness of the sculpture being placed in a public park.

After working as a ski instructor, a carpenter, and a raft guide on the Grand Canyon at age 38 he began his career as an artist.  He moved to Loveland, where his mother, Lu Haskew introduced him to Fritz White and quickly became his apprentice.  Denny quickly established his own name among the top ranks of representational sculptors.

Denny is a member of the Pottawatomie Citizen Nation; it came natural for his work to represent the Native American Culture.  Although these have been his most financially rewarding work, he has placed many monumental sculptures spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre.

His fascination with the human body allows him to explore his inner most thoughts and emotions, expressing them through his work.  His work often portrays spirit, love, forgiveness, healing, relationship, endurance and strength.  The human body is full of movement and beauty, a perfect platform for the reoccurring themes within Denny Haskew’s work, which we can all relate to.

Denny's words about his art are as poetic as the art itself.

You ask about my art.
Take a breath. Think peace as you breathe in, feel love as you exhale. Take a breath, think love as you breathe in, complete forgiveness as you exhale.
This, I have learned and now. . . so it goes with my art.
