“I like to choose stones that are not perfect color matches because for me that is more true to nature, and I have used clean simple settings and design so the stones can speak for themselves.” - GURHAN
Calling all jewelry lovers and collectors!!
Our yearly, exclusive GURHAN show will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at our downtown location at 828 Main Avenue, in Durango, CO. Join us from 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm to select from new, one-of-a-kind pieces. With deceptively simple, easy to wear styles, these new collections are perfect for those that love to take their jewelry from the office to the opera, and everywhere in between. The vibrant, joyful, daringly designed pieces seen during this show are not available throughout the year, making this a must-attend event.
GURHAN travels each year to exotic locations, visiting remote, less well-known environments. The tranquility and harmony experienced while hiking the fabled Shinto pilgrimage route in Japan inspired the new Dynasty Collection. Stunned by the bustling villages built over the waters of Lake Inle in Myanmar, and wanting to capture the sensation of how the humid air seeming to dance with droplets of water, lead to the use of delicate diamond drops and briolettes in several of this season’s collections. Inspiration also comes from quiet evenings at home, enjoying the sunset across the Hudson River. Ethiopian opals, which have an inner glow similar to sunlight as it reflects on the water, were used in a collection that resembles those ever-changing hues. “I like to choose stones that are not perfect color matches because for me that is more true to nature and I have used clean simple settings and design so the stones can speak for themselves.”
“GURHAN is so very in tune with current trends and styles, what jewelry lovers and serious collectors alike are looking for. There is always a piece that will speak to you, and then speak for you.” - Shanan Campbell Wells
Always eager to try new techniques, this season GURHAN is experimenting with different ways of setting diamonds by hand, “so that the organic style of the jewelry is not compromised.” He is continually working to make pieces lighter and easier to wear, without compromising the richness of the gold’s surface.
Also included in this year’s show will be pieces from a collaborative collection designed with iconic fashion designer, John Varvatos. In talking about this collaboration GURHAN stated, “It is a dream for me to have found a partner who shares my passion for rock music and the style that goes along with it. My own line of jewelry is an important reflection of one part of my life – world history and ancient cultures. John’s line enables me to celebrate another huge part of my life – music!”
GURHAN has been featured both nationally and internationally in several major lifestyle and fashion publications, including In Style, Veranda, Worth and German Vogue.
