Indian Market, Every August Since 1922

I’ve been attending Indian Market since I was very young, and I always feel like I’ve learned something new, been taught something valuable, simply by walking through and talking with various artisans. - Shanan Campbell Wells

Each year, the Santa Fe Indian Market attracts over 100,000 visitors from around the world. Why? What better place for an art enthusiast to interact with and buy directly from the artist? You can expect about 1,000 artists to be participating and showing their work, from over 200 federally recognized tribes from the U.S. and Canada.

Shanan Campbell Wells, owner of Sorrel Sky Gallery, shares her thoughts about Indian Market. “Indian Market has been happening for over nine and a half decades, and it continues to gain national and international attention. The authenticity of the artwork, the sense of history and culture, it’s truly a must-see event for visitors and collectors. I’ve been attending since I was very young, and I always feel like I’ve learned something new, been taught something valuable, simply by walking through and talking with various artisans. I’m so proud of the Native American artists that we represent at the gallery, as well as all the other participants … each with a voice, a vision, each sharing a piece of themselves.”

Sorrel Sky Gallery’s visionary approach to Western art allows both new and experienced art enthusiasts the opportunity to select from a distinctive collection of contemporary and traditional fine art and jewelry. Founded in Durango, CO in 2002, Sorrel Sky Gallery opened its second location in Santa Fe, NM in 2014. Representing several acclaimed and renowned painters, sculptors and jewelers, including Kevin Red Star, Star Liana York, and former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse, among others.
