(b1940) Perkinson studied at the Chicago Academy of Art and obtained a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico. He recognized that he had found an infinite source of inspiration in the panorama of the southwest landscape. The drama of light and shadow, and the mystery that characterizes the New Mexico landscape continues to hold great appeal to him. Often painting the moon, his palette is richer and robust. At times he adds pastels on top of the watercolor, which create a luminous glow along with a physically interesting texture and depth.
A glimpse of a moment suspended outside of time, a place where one can simply Be; a sensation both compelling and liberating.
