(b 1953) Cogan captures the beauty of creation on canvas, painting the landscapes and wildlife of the American West in a unique style that has become known throughout New Mexico and the Southwest. He works in acrylic, focusing on color and the effects of light. Cogan earned his Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, then an MA and a Ph.D. in experimental physics from Rice University. He worked briefly in the corporate world, but in 1982 he left his job to pursue painting full time. He is known for his national park landscape paintings.
