"I woke up to a perfect Austin, Texas "winter" day – Upper 60’s and clear blue skies. Perfect for cruising in my yellow 1973 Corvette, that is. But I stayed home and finished this painting. It’s inspired by my heroes: cowboys of the American West and Westerns of the 50’s and 60’s, Andy Warhol and his take on American icons, Jackson Pollock with those exciting splatters, and decorated with my own Chuck Middlekauff brand of finishing touches. I like to a leave a little – or a lot – for your imagination, and so you can see a bit of my drawing. It’s all flavored by the Beach Boys tunes I had blaring in the background and the art supplies that hung out on the painting while I worked."
