Welcome To The West
"One day in the west" is the quote Maura used to describe this painting. What Maura meant was she wanted the viewer of her fine art to see a 360-degree view of the spirit and feeling of the American West and for the viewer to see grand and prefigures art the rodeo life. The girl in the forefront is a mother of three, but also a rodeo champion. Her pictures were taken while Marua was laying on her stomach to make sure she got the angle just right. The cowboy is part of a team roping duo, and she caught this cowboy just as he broke away from the chute as he was about to release his rope to catch the hind leg of a calf. The colors in the photo represent the moments in a day at the rodeo: sunrise, daylight, and dusk.
