The Crow see the wolf as a scout, a watcher and a protector. There was a group amongst the warriors, each with a specific role … one group went ahead to scout, one would watch over the livestock, another would guard the camp. These were often the elders, older warriors who had counted coup, and despite their age were still very courageous.
