Looking Over the Land
Acrylic on panel, 10 x 10 in, steel frame
“Western Tales” is a body of work celebrating how stories of the West were–and still are–shared. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, for many Americans, the stories featured in these pulp magazines and dime store novels were their first taste of the West–the source of what life in the West was like, both real and imagined. I combine mastheads from these publications with a modern-day twist. Each measures 14 x 11 in and often serves as a color study for a larger painting.
