“I always felt the natural world was very appealing … so wildlife and landscape painting was the perfect opportunity for me to make a living doing what I enjoyed doing.” — Keith Huey
Santa Fe artist Keith Huey has loved art from an early age. As a young child and throughout grade school, he recalls visits to museums and the gift of attentive art teachers. After time spent in the military, he attended the Former Westlake School of Portraiture in Ohio and later began to pursue a career in fine art painting.
Over the decades, mood and emotion have served as Keith’s main focus when developing a new piece, often resulting in peaceful, reflective imagery. “I’m very interested in the mood and emotion that can be conveyed through the design and color of a painting,” he stated. His paintings include the grand vistas of the Southwest, as well as the cultural heritage and wildlife we share the landscape with.
Keith has traveled extensively throughout the West and internationally, painting all the while. He has been featured in several national art magazines, and his work can be found in various private collections. Along with his wife, he now lives and paints in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
