"Mysteries of the Southwest infuse everything in this tableau, as recurring storm themes reverberate in pottery, shield and textile. Great beasts flee lightning-charged clouds which dominate this old Hopi vessel, as well as the Pueblo dance shield with its downpour of rain. A Navajo "storm pattern" rug with its classic water bugs echo the motif, which are understandable in that both weather and history have cycled violently throughout this region. Yet, their presence together radiates a quiet serenity of survival and triumph over those storms." Lisa Danielle.
