I am working on a series of paintings telling the story of Billy the Kid but not so much as history but as dance....a ballet if you will. This is why this trio of dudes are all in a similar position and why their clothes (especially the striped pants) look more theatrical.
And in a stage play the "moonlight" is often just a spotlight which shines on the scene...that is why there is that "spotlight" on the three men.
