Info: Homage to Route 66. The longhorn skull is from a photo I took of a neon skull which is on the front of a roadside trading post in Tucumcari, New Mexico. It’s an iconic Route 66 building which is built as a tee-pee. Also on the facade of that building is the word “curios”. I photographed that as well and used it for this piece.

The “Lonesome Highway Songs” and song list are from a cassette tape that I found in an abandoned service station along the original stretch of Route 66, not far from Tucumcari. Inside the garage there’s a lot of debris and left over auto parts, tools, paperwork, etc. and this tape was sitting on top of an old oil drum.
