Acrylic on Canvas, 60" x 48" The Crow see the wolf as a watcher and protector. Amongst the warriors, the Wolves were comprised of several groups, each with a specific role. The first group would be those that traveled several days at a time patrolling the far reaches of the territory around the camp. The second group would stay within a mile of the camp, protecting the livestock and those that were hunting. The third guarded the immediate camp. These were often the elders, older warriors who had counted coup, and despite their age were still very courageous. With his headpiece and Crow looping breastplate decorated with large shells, this warrior is likely a Wolf leader. The looping technique is particular in design and style to the Crow. Other tribes stacked the bones of their breastplates.
