Gray Closed Form
In the simplest sense, Crystalline Glazed Porcelain is the process of crystals growing on the surface of the porcelain pot during the firing process, but you?ll have to brush up on your physics and chemistry to fully understand the process. The shimmering crystal wafers floating on translucent surfaces are actually willemite crystals. These crystals grow on the surface in an unpredictable and random pattern in colors that range from champagne to adobe, aqua to cobalt blue, red to maroon and even sea foam green. It takes over 20 hours in a hand-made kiln, temperatures upwards of 2,400 degrees and a reduction of oxygen to create these stunning colors and crystal formations. The extreme temperatures and unpredictability leads to many failures, making each success a special, unique and one of a kind piece. Vase measures 7" x 9"
