Long Bought Sundown

The mythical cowboy, face hidden in shadow, idealized and stylized.
David DeVary grew up with the movies based on myths of the old West. For 30 years, he worked in commercial art in Chicago, and then in 1989, he moved to New Mexico where he turned to fine art. His use of bright yellow slickers, often black hats that shield the eyes, worn, antique chaps and the cowboy’s own natural body language helps create a striking, unique, almost ethereal portrait of the American cowboy and cowgirl.
