“When I was very young I would see the older women, with their belt and pouch or can, going out to pick the berries. The berries would be dried and used to make pemmican. They usually took the grandchildren, boys, and girls along and would mentor the younger ones so that they would know what not to pick and what to pick Sometimes they’d wear a scarf but I left it a bit minimal.
