“My background as an architect and my origins influence my art. Memories of place, cultural traditions, and architectural elements work together in an organic way to generate mystery and bring joy." — Ana Maria Botero
Born in Bogota, Colombia, Ana Maria Botero is a contemporary artist. In 1990 she received a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota where she lived and worked for several years.
In 2001 Ana Maria and her family moved to Florida. She worked there for Vigneault and Hoos Architecture Inc. until 2005 when she moved again, this time to Colorado. It was at this moment that she decided to devote herself fully to art.
Painting on multiple panels of glass, Ana Maria’s flowers are works of illusion. Using the single hair of a paintbrush, she captures each detail of her subject. After baking the layers of glass into one piece, her finished work appears to be an actual flower, suspended in glass.
Ana Maria Botero’s work is in several private and corporate collections in the USA, and other countries.
