“Your best picture is always the one you have never taken. It is always ahead of you.” — David Yarrow
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, David Yarrow is considered one of the world's best-selling photographers. His remarkable career began at age 20 when he captured the iconic image of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup trophy at the 1986 FIFA World Cup Final in Mexico City. After a successful detour into finance, Yarrow returned to his true passion, photography. Known for his evocative black-and-white images that span wildlife, landscapes, and staged narrative scenes, he has established himself as a distinctive and influential voice in the art world.
Yarrow's work is characterized by its immersive quality and storytelling approach. His early focus on wildlife photography, capturing endangered species in remote locations, showcased the majesty of the natural world and his animal subjects. Recently, he has been pursuing a personal anthology of the Wild West of America, telling new stories that entertain rather than teach. He identifies as a storyteller as much as he does a photographic specialist and his images include elaborately staged scenes, featuring supermodels and sports figures.
Yarrow’s work continues to gain significant success and critical acclaim. His sought-after limited edition prints are in high demand, confirming the collectibility of his work, and his status as one of the best-selling photographers in the world. Exclusively representing Yarrow in New York City and the State, Sorrel Sky Gallery has access to his latest images and full catalog, including collector favorites. Representing him at all three locations, Sorrel Sky Gallery regularly collaborates with Yarrow for charity events, public shows, exhibitions, art talks, and book signings.
