“You cannot live in Montana without having breathless moments of awe every day. The skies are endless inspiration for color, clouds, thunder, rain, and brilliant azure days.”
From her global upbringing to her current studio nestled near Glacier National Park, Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey's artistic journey reflects a lifetime of rich cultural influences. After studying studio art in Paris and living throughout Europe, Nancy discovered silk painting during her travels to Hawaii – a medium that perfectly matched her love of vibrant color and fluid technique.
Working with French dyes on crepe de chine silk, Nancy creates distinctive Western art that marries traditional subjects with an innovative approach. Her portfolio includes dynamic tipis and bold cowgirls, commanding wildlife, and vibrant florals, each showcasing her masterful contemporary style.
Nancy's work has earned significant recognition, including her 2020 traveling museum exhibition "Forever Glacier," featuring twenty-five large-format silk paintings of Glacier National Park's mammals and landscapes. As a founding member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists, she regularly participates in prestigious shows including The Russell Auction, the Briscoe Western Art Museum's "Night of Artists," and the Coors Western Art Show. Her pieces grace permanent collections worldwide, from major museums to corporate offices, cementing her position as a unique voice in contemporary Western art.
