“I am attracted to the human figure, and it will be enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.” –George Lundeen
George Lundeen has traveled the world gathering images of people that he then skillfully transforms into figurative bronze sculptures in his Loveland, Colorado studio. Though he considers himself a western artist, his realistic sculptures transcend time and culture. His often life-sized figures, masterfully designed and crafted, draw the viewer in through their expressions of universal human emotion.
Born and raised in a small town in Nebraska, Lundeen’s upbringing gave him much of the subject matter he uses in his sculptures today. He finds it satisfying when people from different walks of life find a common bond with his sculpture, especially those that depict scenes from his Nebraska heritage. Lundeen’s sculptures are commissioned for and held in private and public collections across the world.
He has received numerous awards from the National Sculpture Society and Allied Artists of America. He is a member of the National Academy of Design and National Sculpture Society. A Fulbright-Hayes Scholar who studied at the Academia de Belle Arte in Florence, Italy, he holds Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees.
