In this page torn from a Red Ryder comic, it took artist Fred Harman only an oxcart, a sombrero-topped figure in a serape, and the iconic saguaro to evoke the laid-back flavor of the land between Tucson and Old Mexico. In contrast are the intricately ornate Mexican spurs of the highest craftsmanship, my iconic take on the contrasts of our beloved Southwest.
