circa 1880, is an example of
objects made for the tribe’s own
personal use in ceremonies,
instead of the tourist trade.
Representing the eternal life
cycles of butterflies from cocoons
and frogs from tadpoles, these
design elements reflect the
request for the blessings of water

and rebirth.
