Is some inside mischief between me and my father. It represents his frustration with me doing ALL the work on a very large property. “He Should Mow” became his ‘bon mot’ about my constant effort.
He Should Mow is bigger than our joke. Fresh-cut grass ignites the playfulness of summer; cloud and star gazing, running amuck in and out of sprinklers. A reminder of the short liveliness of the season. Now as an adult, lawns symbolize water use to me. The living, breathing West in 2024 in an outcry of water conservancy.
