Adobe barrio, perhaps inspired by Applegate's own neighborhood, along Camino del Monte Sol, hailed as one of the city's finest examples of Spanish-Pueblo Revival architecture.
(1881-1931) Frank Applegate, an author, sculptor, painter, woodcarver moved to Santa Fe in 1921. Co-founder of the Spanish Colonial Art Society (1925), he was very active in Santa Fe community and preservation of Native American crafts as art. His watercolors were inspired by traditional Pueblo and Hispanic cultures and the varied Southwestern landscape. Often minimalistic in style, he used white space that allows for freer viewer interpretation.
