40x30, Oil On Canvas
"This look is from the mid to late 1940s. In the early 1940s cowgirls began wearing blue jeans, and the jeans this model is wearing are from that time. Other things were changing too. Boots got shorter and a little more ornate, piping was added to shirts, hats were modified. The timing of this piece is 1946-47 and we can’t talk about those years without considering WWII. There were a lot of cowboys that went off to war and never came back. Where did that leave someone like her? She has her memories of someone who didn’t come home. Regarding the large circular element … I’m a huge fan of Norman Rockwell. He often included this type of design in the background of his work, so I decided to add one here."
