I'm a proud American, thrilled when I see our flag and happy when I see a dedicated cowboy working, or resting. This painting has both. It’s inspired by the flag and my heroes: cowboys of the American West and Westerns of the 50’s and 60’s, Jackson Pollock with those exciting splatters, the art and design of commercial signs, and decorated with my own Chuck Middlekauff brand of finishing touches. I like to a leave a little of the painting unfinished - sort of a painting of a painting in progress. It’s all flavored by the classic tunes I had blaring in the background and the art supplies that hung out on the painting while I worked.
