There's something truly magical about experiencing art beneath the open sky. This spring, we're thrilled to invite you to step into a world where bronze meets blossoms in our newly reimagined sculpture garden at Sorrel Sky Gallery Santa Fe!
Our balcony patio has been transformed into an enchanting outdoor gallery featuring the magnificent bronze works of Star Liana York, complemented by a striking bronze wall hanging by Lisa Gordon. Together, these pieces bring the animal kingdom to life, creating an immersive experience where art and nature dance together in perfect harmony.
Mark your calendars for Friday, May 23rd, from 5-7 PM, as we host an elegant Garden Party Gathering to unveil this special outdoor exhibition. This isn't just an art show—it's a celebration of creativity, nature, and community all blending together in one beautiful space.
"We're reviving a format that has resonated deeply with our collectors in the past," says Shanan Campbell, owner of Sorrel Sky Gallery. "This sanctuary of sculptural beauty transforms our balcony patio into an immersive experience where art and nature converge."
As a female gallery owner who has consistently championed exceptional artists throughout her career, Shanan has a particular appreciation for how outdoor settings can transform our experience of three-dimensional art. The changing natural light throughout the day brings these bronze pieces to life in ways that simply can't be replicated indoors.
We're honored to feature the work of Star Liana York, recognized as one of Southwest Art Magazine's 30 most influential artists. Since making the Southwest her home in 1985, Star has created an impressive collection of works that capture the spirit and essence of this region with remarkable authenticity.
Her daily horseback rides near her Abiquiu ranch inform her incredible understanding of animal anatomy and movement. When you see her bronze pieces, you'll be struck by how she manages to infuse metal with personality, energy, and soul.
"There's something magical about experiencing three-dimensional art in an open-air setting," notes York. "Bronze comes alive differently under natural light, changing throughout the day as shadows shift and surfaces catch the sun."
The garden will showcase York's animal-themed works, highlighting her masterful ability to infuse bronze with personality and movement. Recently honored with invitations to the 2025 Coors Western Art Exhibit and Cowgirl Up!, York continues to receive recognition for her exceptional contributions to contemporary Western art.
This isn't simply an exhibition—it's an environment designed for contemplation and connection. We've created a space where you can envision these magnificent pieces in your own gardens and outdoor spaces. There's something deeply personal about selecting a bronze that speaks to you and imagining how it might transform your own slice of the outdoors.
The Garden Party on May 23rd offers a unique opportunity to meet Star Liana York in person as she discusses her creative process. You'll also get to witness master sculptor Norberto preparing the garden installation on-site, providing fascinating insights into the thoughtful placement of outdoor sculpture.
Light refreshments will be served, and we encourage you to dress for an elegant garden party atmosphere. Even if you can't make the opening reception, the exhibition will remain on view throughout the summer season, with new works rotating into the sculpture garden.
We can't wait to welcome you to this special outdoor experience where bronze and blossoms come together to create moments of wonder and joy. There's simply no better way to experience these magnificent sculptures than under the beautiful Santa Fe sky!
