British artist Alan Walsh creates vibrant works celebrating the elegance and glamour of the Côte d'Azur, where he's based in Monaco. His signature style, which he calls "art with playful elegance," features bold, clean compositions in acrylic and oil that allow his subjects to breathe.
Walsh's childhood shaped his artistic vision. Growing up traveling to racing circuits for his father's motorsport career, he filled those long journeys drawing from his mother's Vogue magazines and his father's Autosport publications. Those same subjects still inspire him today: luxury automobiles, fashion, and the bold advertising graphics that defined 1980s motorsport sponsorship. He later raced karts himself for Europe's elite Zip Young Guns team, the same outfit that developed Lewis Hamilton.
After leaving school early to focus solely on art, Walsh built his career in advertising agencies across the UK and Australia, creating illustrations for global brands including Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Grey Goose Vodka. In 2012, he left advertising behind to paint full-time.
Walsh's work has attracted collectors from royalty to Hollywood, with his paintings hanging alongside those of Damien Hirst at the legendary Hôtel Martinez in Cannes from 2020-2024. He currently divides his time between Monaco and a French olive farm, while supporting his wife, Emily, through her ALS journey.
