Patricia A Griffin’s vibrant compositions are a contemporary manifestation of humanity’s earliest muse. Her oil paintings of animals on linen, burn slowly as they stir the mind into daydreams of encounters with indigenous beings. Griffin goes to great lengths to study, photograph and sketch her kinetic subjects in the field. Griffin utilizes subject matter as a testing ground for concepts of color, value, and structure. The works are portals into poetic and psychological content and drift into wordless fantasy.
Griffin has studios in Jackson, Wy and East Stroudsburg, PA. She has spent the past 33 years as a professional artist. Born in Philadelphia, in 1967, she graduated with a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia Pa 1989. Her work has brought her international recognition, has exhibited in 17 museums, and its collected from Dallas to Dubai. She has shown in 19 solo exhibitions, and over 180 group exhibitions. A skilled teacher and photographer, she has designed her life to allow her to explore the natural world with her camera, and to share its incredible beauty through her paintings.
