Seven Decades of Native Artistry Meet Contemporary Sophistication
Nighthorse Jewelry Featured at Sorrel Sky Gallery's Fall Gallery Walk
September, 2025
DURANGO, CO – Sorrel Sky Gallery presents the extraordinary legacy of Nighthorse Jewelry during Durango's Fall Gallery Walk on September 19, 5-8 PM at 828 Main Avenue, Durango, CO. This exclusive showcase celebrates seven decades of Native American artistry transformed through contemporary vision.
The Nighthorse story spans three generations: Ben Nighthorse Campbell, the 92-year-old master jeweler, Northern Cheyenne artist, and former U.S. Senator whose original designs remain the foundation for every piece; his grandson Luke Longfellow, Creative Director, who brings modern sophistication to time-honored traditions; and Shanan Campbell, whose leadership of Sorrel Sky Gallery bridges artistic legacy with contemporary markets.
"Every contemporary piece carries the DNA of Ben's original vision, interpreted through Luke's refined aesthetic," explains Shanan Campbell. "It's a dialogue between generations that results in jewelry unlike anything else in the market."
Luke Longfellow began apprenticing with his grandfather at age seven, absorbing both technique and the philosophy of creating jewelry that tells stories. Now a certified gemologist, he works exclusively in 18-karat gold and platinum with natural diamonds and precious gemstones. His New York experience in fashion and fine jewelry informs his contemporary approach to classic designs.
Each Nighthorse piece begins with one of Ben's foundational designs, then evolves through Luke's modern sensibility as the Creative Director. The result: jewelry that honors tradition while speaking to today's sophisticated collectors who understand that true luxury lies in authentic heritage and uncompromising craft.
