Master Gourd Artist Robert Rivera and Jewelry Artist Maria Goler Baca Showcase Inspiring Collections Exclusively at Sorrel Sky Gallery During Traditional Spanish Market

Discerning Collectors Invited to Experience the Passion and Innovation of Two Distinctive Artistic Visions During Santa Fe's Celebrated Summer Tradition.

SANTA FE, NM — Sorrel Sky Gallery proudly presents an exclusive showcase featuring two remarkable artists during Santa Fe's Traditional Spanish Market. The exhibition highlights Robert Rivera's transformative gourd art alongside Maria Goler Baca's exquisite jewelry creations, beginning with an intimate artist reception on Friday, July 24, from 5 to 7 PM, at the gallery's downtown location, 125 W. Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, NM. Both artists will be in attendance and will remain available at the Santa Fe gallery throughout the Market weekend for private appointments with collectors.

The Artistic Excellence of Robert Rivera

For nearly four decades, Robert Rivera has elevated the humble gourd into extraordinary objects of beauty, integrity, and symbolism. His unceasing enthusiasm and passion for exploring innovative techniques infuse each creation with a distinctive, dynamic presence. Rivera approaches every gourd as a unique canvas, adorning each piece to reveal its hidden character and essence.

These highly collectible works have captured the imaginations of discerning collectors throughout the country. Rivera's creative journey takes him across the Southwest in search of perfect gourds, gemstones, sandstone, and other natural elements. Each masterwork is thoughtfully embellished with materials that are, in his words, "from Earth, of Nature," reflecting his deep connection to the landscape that inspires him.

The Artistic Heritage of Maria Goler Baca

Maria Goler Baca's artistic journey represents the continuation of a rich family legacy. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Santa Fe since 1970, Baca was immersed in creative expression from her earliest years, learning antiques, photography, painting, woodworking, and jewelry fabrication within her artistic family. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Modern and Classical Languages, she pursued her passion for expression, leading to a distinguished career in jewelry design.

"It gives me great joy to know that little bits of my inspiration will be worn and cherished by many, and hopefully passed on from generation to generation," shares Baca, whose pieces reflect her commitment to creating enduring heirlooms. For this exhibition, Baca will present not only her signature jewelry designs but also collaborative works created with her brother, Gustavo Victor Goler, an acclaimed santero and recipient of the Master Award for Lifetime Achievement, which powerfully intersect traditional New Mexican artistic heritage and contemporary vision.

A Celebrated Santa Fe Tradition

"Robert and Maria embody the artistic excellence and innovative spirit that define Sorrel Sky Gallery," said Shanan Campbell, Founder and Owner of Sorrel Sky Gallery. "Spanish Market is one of the most meaningful weekends of our year, and watching the connections form between these artists and the collectors who return season after season is endlessly inspiring."

This showcase offers a rare opportunity to acquire original works from two of the Southwest's most distinctive artistic voices during the Traditional Spanish Market weekend. Collectors are invited to preview available pieces and schedule private appointments by contacting the gallery at (505) 501-6555.
