The all-too human desire to find and to BE your own person is what attracts me to him and his troubled story. But when you combine his victory over Jim Jeffries to establish himself as the recognized World Champion and the appearance of Halley's comet earlier that summer, well, this adds a cosmic touch to his triumph....and THAT is what my painting is about, namely, how the cosmos smiled its golden smile on Papa Jack and ordained him with the crown
