Photograph, Edition of 10, 38" x 50"
This is a young appaloosa stallion that I photographed during one of my photography workshops at a ranch in Northern Idaho. I noticed that in the indoor arena, there was a narrow strip of sunlight coming from some translucent panels high up on the wall. We got some black fabric and covered the back wall, and I had one of the wranglers run the horse around so he crossed through the strip of light. I loved how the light just made him glow.
“I feel my work is an homage to the equine spirit and to the archetypal role they play in our lives. This is why I always photograph them without riders, saddles, bits, bridles or any other device that would interfere with their pure essence.” - Tony Stromberg
