David works in his studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Before he begins any painting, he creates a drawing “study” where he plans the use of light, shadow, form, perspective and composition. Upon completion of his studies, he is prepared for his final painting.

We are pleased to offer these studies. They are pencil and paper drawings and come unframed.

Although David’s paintings are representational, he places great emphasis on the abstract elements - color relationships, the large shapes and patterns cast by shadows and the negative space and edges surrounding objects.
