Drawing upon the shades and tones of nature, Silverwood often exaggerated them, dramatizing the emotional exuberance that the landscape conveyed to her.
(1932-2011) Mary Silverwood attended the University of Texas, Austin, TX, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts. A visit to New Mexico in the late 1980s offered her new inspiration, later prompting a move there in 2000. She drew strength and inspiration from the configurations of mountains, arroyos, mesas, ravines and compacted vegetation against the azure sky.
